I’m in need of another Nikon body. And it will be the D800 or the E version. I have been researching the drawbacks of the E but this camera body will be more of a toy than a tool. And I’m most likely to use it for scenic landscapes and macro imaging. But one question I’m wondering about the E is if one encounters a situation where moire is likely to be a problem couldn’t the subject be shot at a lower resolution and avoid the possibility of moire? Or is the E version likely to produce the problem at all resolutions? Thanks for all the information you’ve shared so far.

Possibly. Shooting at a lower res could change the subject to sensor pattern and eliminate the moire, but would be a trial an error test. If you changed the res you also defeat the purpose of having such a nice big sharp file. Changing the focal length can impact the moire alinement too. I have had very little shooting time with an e version and did not run any kind of comparative test. Also – the e version I shot was a prototype and may have been developed considerably since then. I think we should wait and see on some of these questions.
